"The Emergence" I used a rich, earthy palette dominated by deep indigo, charcoal grays, and warm, luminous golds. I sought to capture the feeling of both vastness and intimacy. The heavily textured central ravine—created through thick application of molding paste—serves as the focal point, suggesting a journey into a deep, primal landscape, perhaps a canyon, a wave, or an opening in the earth.
The central void is dramatically illuminated by a surge of brilliant ochre and gold that radiates from the upper right, piercing the surrounding darkness. This contrast emphasizes a moment of creation, hope, or release—the light fighting its way through the turbulent, deep-toned forms. It is an exploration of raw natural power and the sublime moment when chaos gives way to clarity.

"Embers and Nightfall," is an exploration of the beauty found at the edge of the day. Using rich, layered hues, I sought to capture the intense energy of a sunset.
The dominant field of fiery reds, oranges, and deep pinks represents a moment of peak emotional saturation—a burning, passionate memory or the last gasp of light before darkness. This warmth is anchored and contrasted by the deep indigo and near-black tones at the periphery and the lower horizon, symbolizing the mystery of the approaching night.
It is an abstract landscape, where chaos and calm are held in perfect, shifting balance.

"Depth of Dusk," is an exploration of the space between day and night, where the natural world is transformed by the fading light. It captures a dramatic, fiery sunset mirrored over a calm, expansive body of water.
The work uses a rich, saturated palette of deep indigos, violets, and teals to evoke the approaching darkness, providing a striking contrast to the intense magentas, scarlets, and molten golds that blaze along the horizon. This duality reflects the complex emotional landscape of the twilight hour—a mixture of profound calm and vibrant, fleeting energy.
About me
My artwork consists of mixed media on canvas. I work largely with a palette knife and my hands to mix the colors directly on the canvas. Acrylic paint, resin, ink, charcoal, pastel, and pen are my choice of mediums. I often lay down texture on the canvas with sand, molding paste, or gel before adding color.
The strong presence of my paintings, bold colors, and textures coincide with a canvas that is large enough to display this work. I prefer to work on canvas that is a minimum of 18”x24” and as large as 5’x5’. I have recently started creating 'mini’ works that are 10x20 to capture the feeling of my landscapes for buyers who prefer smaller pieces.
Custom orders are welcome, and when I work on a commissioned piece, I send updates and photographs of the process so you can provide input into colors and composition. I will work with you to create a piece specific to your needs that will best display the subject. Visits to my studio to see the progress is encouraged.
Prints of my work are created on request.
